Dispersion Calculator for Prism Pairs

This calculator computes material dispersion parameters for prism-pair design. Select a material and enter wavelength, length, and prism angle. The tool reports refractive index and derivatives, and outputs the group-delay dispersion (GDD).

Usage Instructions:

  1. Select the material (Fused Silica or SF10).
  2. Enter the wavelength (nm; typical range 210–3710 nm).
  3. Enter the length (m; minimum 0, step 0.01 m).
  4. Enter the prism angle β (degrees; 0–360°, step 0.01°).
  5. Click Calculate to view the results.

Beta Angle (β): β is the angle between the reference ray (apex-to-apex path) and nearby rays propagating near the prism apices. A practical starting value is typically < 0.1°.
