Watt and dBm Converter

dBm is a unit representing the logarithmic value of power relative to 1 milliwatt (mW), and is very common in the fields of communications, lasers, and radio frequency. The primary reason for using dBm rather than watts (W) to express power is its suitability for representing power magnitude relationships and gain calculations. The dBm unit allows extremely large or small power values to be expressed as smaller numerical values, and provides a more intuitive representation of power gain or attenuation.

The conversion formula between the two is as follows:
